Ocean Deer
These pieces explore coastal ecosystems and the interdependence of ocean and land. Images of open water appear behind silhouettes of the common Northern California blacktailed deer. Deer live in forests or chaparral, but these habitats are jeopardized by rising ocean temperatures and changing rainfall patterns.
These screenprints use watercolor pigment applied in multiple layers to translucent drafting film. The unpredictable nature of this process yields one-of-a-kind images.
